Insurance questions families ask
Which insurance plans does BehavioTech accept for ABA therapy?
We are in network with Anthem Blue Cross and Aetna, and we are contracting with CalOptima Health. Private-pay families are always welcome. If your plan is not listed, call us: many plans pay for in-network providers through a behavioral health administrator, and we can check yours in a day.
Does insurance cover in-home ABA therapy in California?
In most cases yes. Since 2012 California has required state-regulated health plans to cover behavioral health treatment, including ABA, for autism, and Medi-Cal covers it for members under 21. In-home is a standard setting. Coverage includes the assessment, direct therapy, BCBA supervision and parent training.
What will it cost me?
It depends on your plan's deductible, copay and coinsurance. Before the first session we run a benefit check and tell you in writing what your plan pays and what you would owe per session. Private-pay rates are available on request.
What do I need to get started?
An autism diagnosis from a licensed professional and a referral or prescription for ABA from your child's physician. If you have neither yet, our guide to getting an autism diagnosis in California explains the fastest routes, and we can start parent training in the meantime.
